Technically, Noah Baumbach's parents are "famous" too, or at least well-connected (as much or more so than Lena Dunham's).

@avclub-a7971abb4134fc0cfcec7d589e1ebcf6:disqus : What?  It's true that color film was invented before the 1950s, but you know that Little House on the Prairie premiered in 1974, right?

"the repairing of Gerwig and Baumbach"

Nice Babbage spot. ADA Lovelace was, of course, Babbage's assistant.

The plot as a whole (rocket to depopulate Earth, race of perfect specimens to repopulate it) was essentially identical to the James Bond film Moonraker, which was itself fairly derivative of villain's plot in the previous Bond adventure, The Spy Who Loved Me.

Turning people into mannequins was also a plot point on Get Smart.  That show also did a London-set horror spoof about making wax figures animate.

I once had a professor ask the class if anyone knew what a farrier was.  I replied, "They shoe horses, don't they?"  He was impressed, but no one in my class got it.

It tells you something about the actors' mentality that those hate-filled exchanges were probably what persuaded Rigg and Stirling to take those roles.

The rare film to star James Coburn, James Caan, and James Cromwell

For a handsome leading man type, he's been taking lots of roles that a) are supporting (even cameo'ing in two consecutive Best Picture winners), b) are "character" parts, and c) use makeup or hairstyling that completely covers up his movie-star looks.

"Begs" means "asks for"; therefore, "begs the question" means "asks for the question".  End of story.

Hey, don't leave out The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes!

Wait, when did Assayas turn into Ozu?

I didn't see the twist in that commercial coming.  Nice.

It's HEDLEY!!!

Not really.  We'd see a bunch of "teaser" scenes, but the revelation of the actual murderer was usually saved for 3/4 of the way through.

Iannucci only directed one of the seven episodes in the last season of The Thick of It.

That just set a new record for most egregious example of Leno Derangement Syndrome I've ever seen.
