I think the King of the Hill episode, while brilliant, was more a spoof of cults in general. (I suspect a lot of TV shows in those days got funding to do anti-cult social modeling.) The Simpsons, on the other hand, directly targeted Scientology, which is interesting because the voice of Bart is a member.
