Yeah, Volver was the one that I thought of as well
Yeah, Volver was the one that I thought of as well
I don't think I could handle another Hosea success; his smug face after beating Stefan nearly shattered my TV. And to think I can still remember that during the first episode I thought; hmm, this guy may be worth rooting for. I blame Leah for ensnaring him; kind of like Yoko and the Beatles, except, you know, if…
I'm a Stefan defender, but DN is actaully right, Stefan earned some hate for his half assed dish (good, not great). If this is truly a dish by dish competition, and history doesn't matter, he and Fabio should have been sent packing.
If Stefan does lose next week, I'm avoiding this board and the inevitable DN's "I…
Agreed-I didn't mind Stafan's arrogance when he was bringing the noise in the kitchen, but when it is used to cover up bad food (actually not bad, just not the best), it comes across as especially douchy.
I've been a big fan of Jeff after I realized he wasn't just some douchy pretty boy, but a seemingly nice person and good cook (albeit with too many ideas).
The first thing my wife said when she say Gail, "has she gained weight?" The correct answer, of course, would have been, "she doesn't seem any more busty, but I can't tell for sure"
If you get big, will you be performing in stadia across the country?
Poor Naomi
Are Noami Watts' nerves going to be on the verge of breaking throughout the entire film, cause I'd like to see her in a flick where she can just kick back and relax, damn it.
Was that Fabio rolling with a mohawk of sorts on the preview. Either that or his wife gave him a crew cut.
Bourdain's always giving Emeril shit, and If I recall correctly, some other well respected chef (can't recall who) said that Emeril's the real deal. Everyone seems to rave about Delmonico, maybe he got stretched too thin (figuratively, of course). The food network got to where it's at today on his back.
Last week when they showed the preview of them all sitting at the table, my wife asked if they were dead. Given that lighting, seemed like a pretty reasonable question.
last supper book
I'm surprised they didn't reference this book:
http://tinyurl.com/bumxky
about chefs and their last meals. It has Wylie and Jacque, who would like to die of gluttony-another reason to love that dude.
I had forgotten he was even on the show until he said something and then got reprimanded by Tom.
No disagreement, but I have a soft spot for emerial-his book, Louisiana, Real and Rustic, was one of the first books I bought when I got into cooking. Of course, I haven't cracked it in years.
I just scored a bunch of old Frugal Gourmet cookbooks that I totally love, but afterward found out that creepy stuff. Still love the cookbooks though.
I'm just excited that someone actually made a dish that was too salty-the judges always complain if the dish is "underseasoned," which I take to mean not salty enough. I think it was Hosea who remarked early in the show that the judges really like things salty, probably because their tastebuds have been numbed.
I still don't see why people are so down on Stefan's dishes. Even his losing dish last week didn't look bad, and the judges are consistently impressed with what he produces.
@Bronsonman: I totally agree, but he seems to have the ability to scare the shit out of someone in a totally constructive way (no evidence for this, of course) . He attitude towards the contestants was very cool, but then again, they weren't working for him.
It's hard to tell how good Stefan is with the level of "competition" he's facing. Every dish he's made looked delicious, and in all of the challenges, he has clearly shown the skill and knowledge indicative of a very good chef. My one knock on him is that he isn't quite as innovative (trying hard not use the world…
Now that Jamie's out, I hope Stefan, who is lightyears ahead of everyone else, handicaps himself to make the rest of the season somewhat interesting. Not sure what that might be (he does claim to "make good babies", maybe he could incorporate that into is oeuvre next week)
