That first testing of an atomic weapon is an origin story, the origin of a new kind of fear, an all-encompassing world-wide fear. It was the garmanbozia genesis. Bob is a symptom of that which became the essential, existential fear for decades and generations.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Couple of stray thoughts -

From one dumbass to another, you might get a little more nervous (sorry!) when I remind you how he was touted for being "Presidential" after dropping a shitload of bombs.

From someone who watches it eagerly and with a twisted sense of glee, I'd say yes.

You seem to argue out of both sides of your mouth. Well done!

Spicey, get the cart - we're goin' for a ride!

Tom Jones week? It's Not Unusual!

On the one hand is the is reality, with evidence and experts to back it up.

He needs a vacation!

Infrastructure Week - fail!
Tech Week - fail!
Mid-East Peace Week - fail!

Got a light?

The opening sequence was the show channeling pure Garth Ennis channeling pure Sam Peckinpah.

"It's an unlucky start, that's all that is. Nothing but smooth-ish sailing from here."

Never have seen Charles Bukowski used as click bait before.

23. DYN-O-MITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the same boat, more or less. I like the new album but unlike other people - and Pure Heroine - I don't love it. To my ears, it lacks a musical identity; the sound isn't as strong as the lyrics or the singer. Maybe it will grow on me but at this point too much of the music on the album strays into generic pop.

The National played a show in Paris for Pitchfork Live earlier today. It was a fantastic set made up mostly of new songs from their upcoming album, Sleep Well Beast, along with a couple of older songs, including a personal favorite, Daughters of the Soho Riots.

Algiers - The Underside of Power
Radiohead - OKNOTOK
Matthew Sweet - Tomorrow Forever
Sharon Van Etten - (self-made playlist)
Feist - Pleasure
Arcade Fire - Isle of Wight Festival 6/10/17

A really good read on the band and the making of the album -
