There were quite a few Kubrick moments in S2, the chess match first springs to mind. As far as Lynch, it really came to the fore in the 2-part finale.
I remember an interview with Sam Esmail where he said that the first season was equal to about 15 minutes of what the planned film version of Mr Robot would have been. If the series goes 5 seasons, this one is equal to the next 15-30 minutes of the original idea.
I'll binge watch at some point between now and next season. It'll be very interesting to see how my perception shifts knowing now what I didn't the first time around.
