Ladykillers was worse, for me. I couldn't get through it. And I usually valiantly stick through films. I didn't know who the Coen Brothers were back then, so I didn't bother to give it the benefit of the doubt.
if your TV has a bad sound system and you'd like to give it another try, watching it on Netflix or something on your laptop, with headphones on, would clear up the audibility issues.
