I've noticed - and agree with - the number of comments that refer to this episode as being off, abrupt, out of character, oddly paced, etc.
The reason for this is that it was directed by one of the producers - Mel Damski.  For whatever reason, Damski is allowed to direct an episode or two every year and they truly tend…
