Oh I love the witty banter. I'm probably over-penalizing 5 for the brutal Hungry Earth/Cold Blood two-parter which was mind-numbingly boring and frustrating. Usually those lackluster invasion stories are buried in the first half of the season. Other than that, it has nothing as bad as Lazarus Experiment, Midnight

Finished Season/Series 5 of Doctor Who. Loved the beginning and end but think it's reasonably overrated. Can't put my finger on it because Smith and especially Gillan are fantastic but it misses the warmth of the RTD era. I get why it's deemed the best season of New Who for many, but I'd put it 4th of the 5 I've

Ah I got it. I interpreted "Ted-worthy" to mean "she's good enough for Ted as a person." It's a good point, and one I overlook because Milioti was so damn good (Tracy and Quinn were by far my 2 favorite HIMYM characters). Now that I think about it, I'd have eye-rolled at the dead fiance if it'd been in the hands of a

Yeah I get what you're saying. Also to be clear, I'm not quibbling with the choice considering I couldn't drum up any interest to return to Girls this year and thus haven't seen Beach House. The only part I'd quibble with is that HIMYM didn't need to make The Mother "Ted-worthy," as the length of the show kind of

It is kind of funny though that having a silent black character and an overall lack of diversity is used against HIMYM in a matchup against… Girls.

Well Comcast is accidentally leaving my HBO ondemand on after a promotional 6 months of the channel ended, so I don't get the channels, but I get ondemand free and am afraid they'll find it or reset it eventually. But I definitely get your point ha.

Yeah it seems way more spoilery than say, the Doctor Who reviews that just finished. And thanks.

Doesn't sound dumb at all. I binged it last summer rather hastily and it did lack some tension, though partly due to loosely knowing the narrative arc going in.

I'm 8 episodes in and really like Kate, though cautiously as everyone seems to think she becomes the worst.

I still have to watch Looking. I'm fairly new to having HBO and am running through the esteemed stuff as fast as I can.

I found it really good, it's just something I don't feel any urgency to watch again for a few years.

If nothing else because it's so short. The HBO shows suck me in because I'm like "Wow, Getting On is only 6 episodes? I can get that done by this afternoon!"

HIMYM as a show doesn't deserve to be in the tournament but that particular episode, being almost of an entirely different show, is one of the most affecting episodes of TV ever for me. The thought of "La Vie En Rose" gets my eyes welled up.

Re: annoying ads, does anyone else have their AV Club page redirect to like Dungeons and Dragons or internet games when the page reloads? I thought it might be on my end but this site is the only one that does it to me. I tried emailing their tech account but no response.

I have a realllllly hard time with uncomfortable and/or unrealistic plotlines, so Amy going off on Damon in the pilot was aggravating for me to sit through. Then it got better fast.

Totally agree. As soon as they started fighting, I was trying to figure out whose storyline made more sense to be over and realized I had no effing clue and to just enjoy a fantastic scene.

I was gonna watch it but it went off ondemand so I'm hoping it pops up on Netflix and I'll do the whole season since it's so short.

The season was terrible, but How Your Mother Met Me is an amazing, at times devastating, half hour of TV. The final scene makes me tear up just thinking about it.

Because the HIMYM grades were really funky this year and somehow everything except the episode that truly deserved an A got an A.

I just watched Enlightened last week and there's like 4 absolute masterpieces in just 18 episodes. It started a bit slow but the episodes focusing on Amy's mom and when her ex comes back from rehab are so powerful.
