I agree with you that one of the good characteristics of the show is its core characters and how much we care about them.  But this jump ahead took away the double worlds, and the history of loss between them.

Why? The writers (especially Moffat) are very careful with their time travel manipulation.  It is not Primer, but still.  "Looper" thinks it is profound.  "Looper" writers want it to be "Children of Men" but a hover-bike and lots of poor people in the streets do not spell dystopia.
