While we're changing history around, I would have loved to have seen Chlumsky play the actual Clarice on Hannibal. Her "not Clarice but may as well have been" role made a huge impression despite how little she was actually onscreen.

I'm obviously hoping for the best, but I feel like this is going to take a dark turn of some sort.
What would qualify a gay character as not being an attempt at being trendy? Developing them in ways unrelated to the sexual orientation? For instance, developing the character for 11 episodes before it's even made clear that they're gay?

What if he's just an opportunistic kiss-ass and not particularly graceful about it, and is gay in his spare time? If the father lie has to do with him explaining the nurse in a more cautious way than "my friend I know from being gay", I'm really not convinced that the show owes us any explosive payoff for Bob any more…
