Well, then we're just in disagreement on how to classify the time period. I don't think it's unfair to classify 50s and 60s Superman as "Curt Swan's Superman", because I don't believe that he was just a drawing machine who never contributed anything to the finished book aside from his pencils. I'm not denying that

And no, Frank Quitely is not cosplaying as Curt Swan, he's cosplaying as Jack Kirby + Joe Kubert, like he always does.

Curt Swan is widely recognized as being the voice of Superman during that time period, despite "only" being the artist. People rarely talk about that era of Superman comics as "the Eliot Maggin" era, referring to it as Curt Swan's era is a bit of shorthand employed to illustrate a constant in that span of time, and

From The Superman Supersite:
"In 1955, following a disagreement with Boring and Weisinger over page rates, Curt was called in to do several issues of SUPERMAN. Whether Weisinger had maneuvered this or not, he took the opportunity to have Swan change SUPERMAN, and begin the look that characterized the character for over

From The Superman Supersite:
"From 1955 on, SUPERMAN was Curt Swan's character. His art defined SUPERMAN for the next thirty years. The lantern jaw was gone, the ironing board flying was gone. All of this was replaced by Swan's realistic, expressive, human faces, and fluid, even graceful, forms flying through the sky.

Yeah, because Swan had no creative input into it at all, I mean, he was only the artist, they're just robots who operate under the direction of the almighty Writer.

I actually know almost as much about the Marvel U as I do about the DCU, it's just a matter of preference. I think my main issue is how many Marvel characters can be summarized by "this guy has problems but also SUPERPOWERS and here is how they affect his life in the most melodramatic way possible", which has never

Also…
If you like All Star Superman, try and get some of the old school Supes written by Curt Swan, as All-Star Superman was, in a lot of ways, Garth Ennis cosplaying as Curt Swan

Xander is the most annoying character in the history of that show who wasn't Glory, Adam, or Riley.

Mark Millar is basically Johnny Rotten: The Comic Book Writer. And no, this is not a compliment.

Let's start a FIRESTORM
Get it? Oh God I'm a terrible person.

Seconded. Starman was one of the best superhero comics I've ever read.

My only issue with Watchmen is less about the story itself but the way comics geeks with chips on their shoulders about being comics geeks fervently insist that it's the equivalent of Moby Dick or Gravity's Rainbow or As I Lay Dying. It's not, guys. It's not a bad story, and it's very much superior for a comic book,

Except most current superhero comics are loaded with insane amounts of continuity because the medium basically pitches itself to the 30-something manbabies that are there only viable demographic. Also, the vast majority of working comic book writers are super shitty.

Trachtenberg is a shitty, shitty actress, which reduces her fuckability quotient by at least 20 points.

If the dude was on coke…
..why did they always make such shitty, unlistenable music? I thought drugs were supposed to make music better!

Faith was always more interesting than Buffy. Hell, most of the supporting cast was more interesting than Buffy. Except Xander. Fuck Xander.

Yeah, I suppose so. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to replace Rodney Dangerfield with Jackie Mason? Even Jackie Mason doesn't like Jackie Mason!

HBO - Home of the most mediocre movies you'll ever see
I have watched Caddyshack 2 at least 70s times throughout my life because of HBO.

I took a bisexual girl to a showing of it at our local fleabag "alternative" theater that would run midnight showings of, like, Holy Grail all the fucking time but occasionally punctuate it with something not played to death. The lesbian scenes bored the shit out of both of us.
