The idea that things happen because of who you are related to, that works for a show set in feudal times, where that was the power structure. But this show is more about ideas and organisations and systems than heritage.

Wanting everything to fit together can be good for a story, but look at the Star Wars prequels. The man who would become Darth Vader builds C3PO? there's no reason for that to be true, it's just the pressure to make everything be connected.
