Bachelorette Party?
When i first opened the article and saw the accompanying photo I (briefly) thought it was a picture of the authors. Then I thought to myself damn the AV Club are bunch of good looking folks. Until I recognized that the X-files guy was not Modell. And more importantly that Zach and Jason were not

yeah, that was a solid movie.

Fuck backlash. I walked out of the theater and felt I'd seen two films inexpertly sutured together. Two films that might have even been awesome in their own right, certainly the first half, but that when put together seemed to weaken each other.

it's the suddenness for me. You're what, 15 minutes into the damn movie? The love montage before it was so effective in making you really feel for those two characters that the death is utterly devastating. I know entire seasons of TV shows where 10 hour on-screen relationships aren't even half as fully realized.

Charlie's death had way more impact than Juliet for me. And Sun and Jin were doomed the moment they were reunited and said those cliched "I'll never leave you again" lines.

Game of Thrones
The first book of the Song of Ice and Fire. Towards the end you're sure the dude is gonna get out of things, because thats what heroes do, and then, axe comes down hard.

Ideas versus Practice
I really really like the stones the writers and producers have for pulling off an episode like this one. It's weird and at times, as you said, a bit blunt and gooey (my wife called the music playing in the background during the first revelation of the cave as 'Disney Music') but in the end I

i enjoy truculent, ersatz, concupiscent. Also bellwether.

that might be my favorite AV Club comment of the year.

Mixed Feelings
I love this show to death but damn if it doesn't frustrate the hell out of me sometimes. This episode was one sloppy bitch. For all of the upside, the ratcheting up of the stakes, the deaths, the sense that the end is near and that everything matters, there was some crummy acting, awkward wrangling, and

Why do they call me Red? Maybe it's 'cause I'm Irish. *snickers*

See I thought Adams part was pretty good as Julie. Mostly because her character was so less than perfect. Especially in contrast to Streep/Child who, although a lovable weirdo, doesn't have the hateful flaws, just the endearing ones. Adams seemed believable to me while I never once forgot I was watching academy award

the wife and I had the exact same conversation not 24 hours ago. After LOST is through, RCN can bite my ass.

See, i thought he meant ghosts. stealing from ghosts. which sounds like a way to meet a grisly end.

7 ate 9 and 10!

The Bachelor and the Bride is a damn good song. In fact, Ellie, if you're an album person (or a record junkie [I'd advise against the latter, it's killing my checking account]) I'd say start with 'Her Majesty'. I like it tip to tail.

under-rated firstie.

a Cubs fan? I feel sorry for you. But not that much. I am an Indians fan after all and at least the Cubs have Chicago.

I'm with sunglasses. 4 was the low point, but then again I am a netflixer and haven't seen any of the current season.

Toby and Kelly start a catering company… IN SPACE.
