Holy shit! Your user icon's Commander Keene. You rock!

I'm pretty sure I read an article about a women in the New York Times years ago who made her career writing academically about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I wonder how her careers holding up 10 years out?

Wait… so is this a joke or for real?
Had no idea this was based on a series of books. The previews make it out to be some sort of quickie Twilight parody.

Now the Wall Street Journal has picked it up! This interview could single handedly restore Bronston Pinchot's career! Cast this man in a Tarantino film STAT!

This interview is linked on Gawker
Is this a first for Random Roles?

I Googled "Dratch dark day" — You're WELCOME — and it turns out that the quote you're thinking of comes from that "Unemployment's a Downer for SNL-er Dratch" article that's mentioned in this interview. It was in New York Magazine, Here is the link: http://nymag.com/news/intel…

I love The Dratch!
"You gonna eat that slaw?!"

Maybe economists wouldn't write shit like this if more of them were women… I mean, they've been giving it Noble Prizes out in economics for years and no woman has won one until this year!!?? That's nuts.

Maybe economists are the freaks?
I've seen Steven Levitt speak in person and on television, and while very charming, he's also basically completely amoral. It's fairly disturbing, actually. For example, he's completely unable to see universal health care as a valid concept because medicine and doctors cost money.

Actually, I think Betty's probably been able to puzzle out most of the mystery. At first, I thought she was just shocked by the divorce papers, but then I realized that between the two dog tags (one for "Whitman" and one for "Draper") and the photos of a young Don with the name "Dick Whitman" written on the back, she

How do you access that Easter Egg?

I was sort of lost on the whole Hitler Dog thing too. At first I thought they meant it had Hitler's Brain, then I thought it had his "soul" (based on Dr. O's comments), or maybe his heart. But his blood/DNA? That makes even less sense!! Was this some sort of film reference — is that why they felt a greater explanation

I thought they meant "fake" sex change as in fake in intent, not in execution. As far as I'm concerned, Hunter Gathers is all woman. He's just THAT devoted to his cover.

Was it really that long? The real only changes I caught were Hank's hair growing out. But if we're in for more blanks being filled in future episodes — including the X-1 mystery, Brock's rehabilitation, etc. — than I might forgive this episodes for being so incoherent in structure.

Jeeze. Don't take it so personally!

I believe Don's comment about "promising to do this the right way sometime" was a reference to his brother. He was also a down on his luck type who turned to Don for help. Don gave him money but also said, quite emphatically, "Do not call me." In response, the brother sent him those pics Betty found and hung himself

"He just wants a huuuug!"
I loved this ep… I love all Venture Bros eps… but you have to admit that this one felt a teensy bit too crowded, don't you? The Hitler/dog thing was funny, but kind of got lost in the mix. And the time jumping thing was a little too confusing… and maybe left just a few too many lose ends.

The stakes are low because the whole show's a bit of a fantasy. Which makes sense, actually, since Johnathon lives his life as though he were a character in a novel. He may not realize there are consequences, but we do.

I got the same thrill of recognition from the shout of to Jann Wenner. And the Russian literature bit.

Does this mean they can *finally* stop advertising this during the Daily Show?
If you burn off all the funny jokes in the trailer — and they still suck — then you know the film's gonna be a dud. Who decided the world needed a shitty version of Saving Sarah Marshall?
