This book is honestly the worst book I've ever read. I heard about this project and like post-apocalyptic stuff, so I thought I'd give it a shot and it was absolutely terrible.

Even if it was a character seen previously on the show, wouldn't the purpose of an article about their non-appearance in the finale indicate something happened in the books that didn't on the show?

Even before the plan, Rachel was just so smug about Monroe. (I'm not particularly objective when it comes to him.) So Miles chose to trust Monroe. What does that have to do with Rachel? I just don't like her.
