Look, this series doesn't need to be EXACTLY like Twin Peaks. Just as long as Agent Dale Cooper is the star (or featured player, anyway) I'm sure it'll be fine.

Yep, I've been to many. It's worth the money. He, Jeff Davis, and Erin McGathy really are all hilarious together. It's like spending time with a group of friends who don't directly address you at any point and make eye contact with you.
Lauren Graham probably won't ever make it, only because we'd suddenly remember how she's the perfect actress for these words, and everyone else would suddenly seem feeble and weak.
@avclub-b7784c8bc13cfa7214f249fef97abfe9:disqus I took him checking the mail as being an excuse to get out of there. Like, he was just out there for a smoke, then this weird fellow shows up, so Bilbo pretends like he was out there to check the mail and, oh, nothing good, better go back inside.

RELATED QUESTION: Are Cheers reviews ever coming back? I've forged on ahead (just finished season 3) but I miss the discussions (and the little Cheers community that formed in the comments).

@avclub-bcd595cb6c47e9cfbd95a0df89444dae:disqus Heh, rereading the post, I can see your confusion. I am hugely, hugely pro- Buffy S3 & Angel S5. I'm saddened that standalone is almost verboten in discussions of what makes quality TV, and these seasons show how standalones can be extremely effective.

Angel season 5 and Buffy season 3 are why I hate, hate, HATE that "standalone" has become almost mutually exclusive from "quality TV" in conventional wisdom. Standalone done right strengthens your characters and your series as a whole. All arc, all the time is not the way. TV IS NOT BOOKS

I almost put this one, too, but then I realized that I think I cry fairly frequently when remembering that moment, but haven't actually watched the episode in a long, long time. So I decided to be technical and leave it off. But yes, great moment.

Few TV moments make me cry as reliably as the following:
