I don't think they don't care much for film around here anymore. I think what's going on is that a lot of commenters aren't willing to give the new staff a fair shake.

Ugh, if this is progress…
I'm really curious what everyone involved in the production of that episode has to say about it.

I don't know, but my first reaction upon seeing the photo above was, "Wow, it's pretty gutsy of them to have lesbians making out in a film aimed at teenagers."
@avclub-043a5755513643c7f4a9cd35380ec33e:disqus That's the thing, though - the point of internet comments isn't to be literature; it's to communicate. If it can be well-written too, great. But I don't believe that should be the priority.
It's not a question of making it clear that it's an opinion (which, as you say, is unnecessary).
Hmm, good point.
I'd also be a happy gay man to get a copy of the dvd. Actually, I'd be just as happy to get it if I was straight!
As much as I like Banks… no. Not nearly. As far as I'm concerned, Glover has been the show's MVP.
Season 3 is indeed just about perfect, and that kiss is one of its very best moments.
I’ve never had much of a problem with the season-three première, “Gay Witch Hunt.”
Is that one I should check out? I don't count myself as a De Palma disciple, but I've enjoyed some of his films (Sisters, Carrie, Raising Cain, The Untouchables).
appropriations of stylistic tropes from Buñuel, Hitchcock, and De Palma

I guess it's all about what you value. I prefer "ridiculous but competent" to "incompetence on every level".
Ordinary People is a classic as far as I'm concerned. I think it just gets a bad reputation because everyone was mad Raging Bull lost against it at the Oscars.
I don't understand why anyone ever complains about turning 30 - didn't bother me in the least. Now, 40, that's a different story…
I think you don't have a clear grasp of who reads this site. Lots of kids in their twenties, yes, but also lots of people in their thirties and forties.
Sadly, this was not the lowest the franchise could go
