He's not a nice guy. But that doesn't mean he's an unrepentant asshole either. Most people fall in the middle and most people like to think they're nice guys. (See internet dating websites for a plethora of examples.)

Agreed. Part of what I love about his character is that while he's a dick in that sad passive-aggressive way, he is soooooo human. The aggrieved peevishness of him is what makes him so different from most characters on tv. Most of us would not be our best selves in that situation. And if the show was: nice guy acts…
