uh, guys, Admirals were almost always evil or incompetent because it's an effective dramatic element. The hero of the story demonstrates his value by proving to be better than even his superiors. See also: "dammit, McGarnigle, I want you to bring that dope smuggler in, but this time you're going to DO IT BY THE BOOK!"
the only way to describe Anvil! is: it's Spinal Tap, but real
almost too painful to watch
I love F&G, but I find it really hard to rewatch just because it hits so close to home. Pre-puberty, I was basically Neal; post-puberity, I was absolutely Ken.
my favorite moment is the show is when Daniel and Lindsay are brought in for cheating (her writing a paper for him or something) - Daniel goes into this aggreived rant about feeling worthless in school because of tracking, and just as the grown-ups are being won over, Lindsay bursts out laughing because she's seen him…
Things Past is also a solid "dark" episode, one that didn't involve the Dominion War
@ToddG - I just watched Who Mourns for Morn a few days ago. T'was good, but I would call it more of a "caper" episode than a "comedy" episode. Also, the lady who pretended to be Morn's ex-wife was fine.
I also really enjoyed the Mulder/Scully parody
DS9's great strength was injecting humor into most of its episodes, even the "serious" ones. I would argue that the writers had a lot more freedom to insert humorous asides and banter because they command/power structure between the characters was looser - you had characters like Quark, Odo, Garak, etc. who didn't…
adjourn yo asses
this nonsense just raises a question for me
Why doesn't Conan O'Brien get asked to host these things? He's funny, has young viewership, and he'll play nice if that's what the big wigs are worried about. Okay, no awards on NBC would dare have him, but what gives?
@Skipskatte - well, it would be down to Starfleet to name something after him, and we all know that they were never exactly proud of Kirk
caught some of the ST movie marathon that Skiffy had on this weekend (although they skipped IV … wtf?) and it got me thinking - Shatner has got a really bad rap. I mean, for a time he seemed to be the fallback example of bad acting, but really, the guy is pretty good. He's hammy without question, but you couldn't…
"I wouldn't hold out hope for the return of your briefcase"
far out man, far fucking out
worst … Lullapallooza lineup … ever
@littlealex - not liking walnuts in brownies, chicken salad, or mayo means we can never be friends. And frankly, I think it makes you history's greatest monster
KJ, I appreciate the invitation, but I'm going to need to have that signed and notarized and probably approved by the NAACP before I even dare use it.
@fastandsloppy - I just say "excuse me" in a contemptuous tone and push past them. If that's not the Big Apple Experience, I don't know what is
