"Trend to blunt thinking" is nice too; like a description Life Magazine would have given in a profile of some business figure they admired in the '50's.

Probably the best thing I'll read on the Internet all week
This paragraph:
It also occurs to me that if Mangelo is blind to reds, he must have dug the shit out of that battle earlier in the movie where pretty much everything is a stony tungsten blue, and the rain is every bit as much a character in the scene as the two guys fighting, plus the guy playing the sheng.
Perhaps the only known photo of Harlan Ellison as the unwanted subject of a Shatnerian Over The Shoulder Boulder Holder.
Just to say it up front: I'm a stagehand, and Bob Dylan won't let stagehands watch him perform from the wings. This puts him in Celine Dion territory.
Joe Rogan is fucking awful too. But on that show, he was great. Such is the magic.
Indeed, I haven't been to Wales at all, and probably could have came up with a better example.
Well yes, they're a lot more likely to quote Python, but I've met just enough people who -upon hearing that I've never watched any Black Adder- feel the need to do entire scenes of it for me, as if I was asking.
Then there's folks who only know how to quote entire scenes of 'Black Adder' verbatim, whether you asked them to or not. Don't worry we hate them here, too.
Yes, it is unfair and unfortunate though true: the dumbest person from Wales still sounds smarter than the most brilliant guy from Arkansas.
You know, I love Steely Dan perhaps better than anyone and I still one hundred per cent understand how it wouldn't translate well for anyone who didn't grow up in the Seventies.
To remake an earlier point, a couple of things from the last few years that I enjoy are Thee Oh Sees, which basically is a garage rock band, and Grizzly Bear, which sounds like an exceptionally creepy Beach Boys. Ain't no "new" about it.
Like with a lot of cultural things, you look like an idiot if you don't take part, but if you do take part and you don't look like you belong there, well…
Same here. And I keep encountering what feels like a majority of people younger than myself who claim that anything that happened before they were born in worthless. It's one of those things I can't argue against because if you don't see what's obviously and clearly wrong with that sentiment, I guess I can't really…
I HATE YOUR HAT!
Yeah, except for that which does not, of course.
Actually, I like this one best of all. Why bother with pop music when I'm not really its audience?
How about you get tired of seeing the same things over and over again?
Especially when they are sold to you, over and over, as if they're just being done for the first time. It's insulting and annoying. "New music?" I'm not sure I've actually encountered any in a great long while.
Whoops. Belly and The Breeders. I agree. That was my misreading.
You know, Tank Girl was such an awesome comic (though written by two MEN, which was always quickly frowned upon) that I never saw the movie. I assumed it'd never get the tone right.
