Just stopping by to say I still think this is the best episode of the whole thing.

I don't know if he was ever actually supposed to be a regular but he was in the pilot, before disappearing immediately afterward with the explanation that he joined a cult. He returned with said cult in a later season 1 episode and then later appeared for a brief moment in the s1 finale but that's it.
