I was born in 1963. I used to watch "Match Game" in the 1970s. I think the fact that our mother (who was and is rather straight-laced) is hearing-impaired (even when she was young) made it easier for us to get away with watching it. If Mom could've heard all of the jokes, she wouldn't have let us watch it.

I have a T-shirt that says "I would prefer not to." And, yes, I knew The Captain and Tennille.

Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions. - HH the Dalai Lama (b. 6 July 1935)

"Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!" - David Farragut (July 5, 1801 – August 14, 1870)

I didn't like Justin's smirk, and was happy for Liz, with her nice grey hair, pretty shirt, and (as Osiris described it) pseudo-Olympic necklace, to come out ahead.

Note my phrasing.

I correct myself then, and say "it's just not Independence Day."

It's the Fourth of July in other countries, too, it's just not Independence Day.

There is no dignity quite so impressive and no independence quite so important as living within your means. - Calvin Coolidge (July 4, 1872 – January 5, 1933), so he's the one who was born

I thought of that, too, but those aren't opposites.

I don't wanna turn you off
I wanna change your channel.

Your answers and mine are the same, with "shaky & still" being the one I am less certain about.

Take the word FALSE. Divide it between the L and the S. The start of the word is the start of FALL, and the end of the word is the end of RISE. And, of course, "fall" and "rise" are opposites. Do the same thing for the word SHALL. Divide it into two parts, so that the start of it starts one word and the end of it ends

From principles is derived probability, but truth or certainty is obtained only from facts. - Tom Stoppard (b. 3 July 1937)

Puzzlemaster Will Shortz again did not call me, even though I knew the answer to his little puzzle was Flint, MI and Miami, FL:

Whatever became of the moment when one first knew about death? There must have been one, a moment, in childhood, when it first occurred to you that you don't go on forever. It must have been shattering, stamped into one's memory. And yet I can't remember it. It never occurred to me at all. We must be born with an

I've used some form of Isis for a long time, e.g."Mighty Isis" and "Absolutely Isis", and Isis Uptown since I moved to New Orleans in April 2005 (yes, I did end up back SW Louisiana for a while later in the year). The Goddess Isis wouldn't think much of those people who use her name so poorly.

Death taking a holiday is rarely a good idea.
