Modern Family has a lot more gaudy materialism than the Cosby Show ever did- do you have any idea what kind of car Dr. Huxtable drove?  Because MF devoted a whole episode to Claire driving a sports car Phil bought and getting her youthful energy back as a result.  And the Huxtables also loudly protested every time…

My husband, last I checked, is a guy (and a heterosexual one too!), and he loves this show more than I ever will (he's a big Victoria fan).  It's very… SOAPY but also AWESOME.
