Considering they're no doubt planning on milking the franchise for all its worth, I'm surprised we didn't see Snake in Smash 4.

What about a shirt that says "Never Be Game Over"?
The Leftovers had so many preposterously good episodes that I can't possibly pick a favorite. The ending made me cry, so maybe that one? But it's tough. Fargo was brilliant as a whole, but only a couple episodes stood out on their own, if that makes sense.
Do you hate every website on the internet, then? Because nobody didn't like Fargo this season. Except you, apparently.
What an odd thing to say
What? This is easily one of the best seasons they've ever done, possibly my favorite. If you describe *this* season as a disaster, I don't know what to tell you.
Oof, I guess I need to watch The Americans. It's hard to imagine any show being better than Fargo and The Leftovers, though. Two masterclasses. I also thought The Jinx was ranked far too low; even without its shocking ending, it was still incredibly compelling and well-researched.
Harrison Ford actually did some acting in this!
I'm surprised to hear you don't like the creature designs. I haven't seen the movie, but all the puppets they've shown look incredible, IMO. They look different, but still like Star Wars aliens. Can't really argue with you on Abrams. Just comes down to personal taste.
I guess I mean the general plot of the movie, with a young boy from Tatooine, who finds out from a wise old Jedi that he's the chosen one. He has to leave him home planet and unite with goofy aliens, using his piloting prowess to blow up a huge space station. Meanwhile the wise old Jedi dies at the hands of a…
I used to write video game reviews for a large website. You can understand why I have no desire to ever do it again.
"Wooden dialogue, pacing, overuse of special effects, these were the actual issues with the prequels."
This *was* the focus of the marketing, though. Every damn interview was about how the movie is going to be fun, fast paced, and use lots of practical effects.
"cynically retro"
Can you explain that? How should they have marketed them?
He did more than people think, actually. He was the one that came up with the idea for the smoke monster, the hatch, and polar bears. So a lot of the mystical ideas for the originally came from him.
No! Enough with your optimism! We should be incredibly cynical toward the very idea of this movie now!
"SW fans by and large do not want something new and challenging. They just want competent fanservice."
Hey, now! I take exception to that. Of course SW fans want something new and challenging, they just want it to be good.
Unfortunately (for the prequels, anyway) nobody forgets about a Star Wars movie. It will always be around, and people will always talk about it. I mean, people talk about The Phantom Menace is practically every AV Club comments section.
" But I would have to call out an attempt to get as close as possible to remaking Raiders of the Lost Arc as being really cynical."
I disagree with that. All the Indiana Jones movies are very formulaic, so you could argue that Temple of Doom, and the only other Indiana Jones movie, The Last Crusade, already did that.
I was not a big fan of the S1 finale, as I felt Lester's ending was completely unsatisfying, and not in a "that's the point!" Coen brothers way. This one 100% worked for me. The cruel irony of Mike Milligan's promotion, Peggy's delusions getting the best of her, the Solverson family's incredibly emotional reunion,…
You know what I mean.
