Yeah Morghim was a little annoyed about the lack of explanation for what the French forces were doing, but I would argue Nolan wanted to keep a tight focus just on the British side of the experience. He's a filmmaker, not an educator. Spending more time providing exposition and giving a "fully rounded" perspective,

Yeah I was a bit confused reading this because I specifically remembered the mixed-race French soldiers in that section.

Whenever I see a picture from the Obama presidency, I get so so sad. This is why we can't have nice things, America.

So unlike other politicians where you know they might be honest or sincere here and there, you know, maybe when they talk about a constituent they helped or an issue they feel strongly about, you know that Trump is just lying about everything and doesn't care about anything but himself? Yeah that's a real improvement

I heard it about a dozen times this morning on NPR during a story about Brexit.

Nobody is that good, apparently.

I don't think Trump uses an iPhone. Doesn't he use like an old version of a Blackberry or something? I feel like I remember reading that.

Makes me think of the Lollapalooza episode of The Simpsons: "are you being sarcastic?"
"I don't even know anymore."

I actually didn't see it! And given that the film focused more on Lincoln alone ( I assume), I think it would sort of undermine Goodwin's point about Lincoln bringing in people who were his rivals and had different viewpoints (and hugely different backgrounds in life) in order to keep the Union together.

Eric only sweats when eating spicy foods.

Gold stars for everyone here.

See, I tell people my job title, and then they seem confused that it exists as a job. Even once I explain what I do, they still seem befuddled. I usually just change the subject once I've finished my futile explanation.

Oh my god, lean six sigma. When I worked as an intern, I nearly killed the admin assistant I was working with as she told me daily about her ongoing six sigma project.

There was an episode of No Reservations where Tony went back to Les Halles as a line cook for one night and it looked like it nearly killed him. He said even before he started that, "I'm pretty sure I'm too old and out of practice for this."

Unpaid interns.

That sounds like where I work. They empty the trash daily in all the student-facing parts of the building. Employee areas only get emptied once a week. And they completely turn off all the HVAC when the building is closed. Which is oh so energy efficient in their minds.

This list is totally invalid. It doesn't have "spelunking" on it.

Southern Idaho. So dry, hot desert.

Works for me some days, and not others. And generally once the running endorphins wear off, I'm just tired and don't want to do anything.

That's true! And we're both quite a bit younger than niece's parents, so that might be to our benefit.
