Not only did she invent that line in the Mad Men universe, it ironically struck her about 5 minutes after seeing those two dogs going at it outside her window. I'd bet money on it.

His fault? No. But Don could have been a real mensch and forgiven Lane and no one would have been the wiser— Cooper was already operating under the assumption that Don had written the check for Lane as a bonus over his own protestations. All Don had to do was offer a scared-straight lecture, punctuated by "you can…

Seriously, the first season laid the foundation for everything after. And it was amazing. People have short memories.
I'm not sure I agree; we've already witnessed the disintegration of Don and Betty's marriage, why would it be interesting to see the same thing again with Don & Megan? I'm also pretty sure Weiner has no interest in going over that same ground— I get the impression he'd prefer to explore some fresh ideas instead.

Yes, that was my point— I don't think his actions are 100% certain at all. He's certainly tempted though, and he probably would not have been tempted at all early in this season. I still think Weiner will surprise us by having Megan actually stray first.

"The cut to black here is actually fairly exquisite. We know what he’s going to say, and we don’t need to see it."
You really think it's that obvious? If you go by the season's overall, extremely dark themes, then yes Don will likely slip back into his philandering ways. If you go by how much they went out of their way…

I really need to re-watch my DVDs, as I remember almost none of these sketches. Has it really been that long since this show was on?

…a SEXY dracula.

Some people think Lane’s arc felt true and not at all contrived. I disagree. There’s no point arguing this with anyone— we just have different opinions. The importance of plot vs. character is a different debate entirely.

I think close watcher put it best when he said “just because they established this moment does not mean they had to start down this path in the first place.” Sepinwall referred to it as “reverse engineering”— when the writer decides what he wants his endpoint to be and manipulates everything before it to meet this…
