Y'all, I discovered Adventure Time two weeks ago and have binged through all five seasons to date. And I will DAMNED if seeing Marceline break down as her surrogate father can't see past his own dementia doesn't make want to curl up into a little ball.

Five Dollar Footlong.

That's not a bad analysis. I think I'd have to add that he's still childish enough to selectively enforce his own rules. I can only remember one instance of Leonard and Amy getting Sheldon to uphold his end of their respective contracts.

Ooh, then what did those stories say about whom? Besides Sheldon's pop culture reference?

HEY! You be respectful and bring her some wine and fondue, son.

I think even the jokes kind of undermined the emotional beats they were going for. Of course Sheldon would base his story on a movie plot and revise it after no one believed it. If the scene had been perfectly sincere for five straight minutes, it would have been excellent.

Agreed. My favorite comedy episodes are the ones that underline the humor with some emotional core. I've cried harder at episodes of Adventure Time than I have at most "serious" television programs. Community on its game could do exactly that.

*Postpones Monday plans out of respect for American Dad's tenuous scheduling.*

Damn good observation. The only thing I find worrisome is how often the show feels the need to go to that well.

Eh, I'd hesitate to say Leonard had the only bad family. Howard's dad left him and his relationship with his mom is far from healthy. Sheldon's only family member who supported his interests died a long time ago, and his mother is sweet, but ill-equiped for a son like Sheldon.

You know how everybody skips over the technical awards in the Oscars? The people who keep porn sites running must get even less recognition.

I get your point, but then the whole "Egg Salad Equivalency" was about him not realizing all the terrible ideas he got from his father were….well, terrible sexist ideas.

Well, Priya was poised as a romantic rival to Penny, which meant the girls were pretty much bitchy to her out of season. They'd at least want to like Lucy…

It's what gives TVDW his power!

People who've purchased this also bought:

Oh, the time critics could save with clairvoyance.

It is the fifth most common letter…

I'm willing to credit the writers for moving past that. I think Amy was first conceived as "Female Sheldon", the idea being that Sheldon could only relate to someone exactly like him. The writers knee-capped his previous character growth to highlight the similarities between the two.

"Thunder and giggles" may well my favorite descriptive phrase for that character archetype, and I plan on working it into every conversation, television related or not.

Thanks for verbalizing that. One of the biggest arguments one could make for this show mocking nerds is that it defines them by their interests (of course they all have light sabers) but equates them and mocks them for the social awkwardness that comes with being a nerd. You know, the part that nerds might actually
