(replying to your most recent post)  I'm worried that the readership is too small for the feature to continue.  But I'm going to comment through to the end; I'll do it on the What's on Tonight feature if I have to.

The Shield 7, 6, and 5 (but this isn't really fair because it's such a complete, single story)
Lost
Buffy 5; 6 gets an honorable (the exact word) mention for being ambitious outside the scope of its talent.
Breaking Bad 3 (4 just behind)
The West Wing 2
24 4
and finally Prison Break 4, which is an absolute masterpiece of

I find those episodes moving, too, but it’s interesting which episodes you didn’t mention.  “Whitecaps,” but not “Marco Polo”:  the dissolution of a marriage is moving, but not its coming back together.  “Long Term Parking,” but not “Walk Like a Man” and “Kennedy and Heidi”:  the death of Adriana is moving, but not

I've driven past Downers Grove.

Oh come on, this is exactly a job for the Hollywood Star Whackers.  Or maybe Jack Bauer.

There's a scene later (I'll point it out when we get to it) where Chiklis insisted they go back and re-shoot it, because he felt his facial expression was wrong.  He clearly knows what an acting asset that face is.

SPOILERS, DUH

That opening scene is one of my favorite examples of a test of a great director:  can you do a scene with little or no dialogue?  OH yeah.

I think sometimes that The Shield's relentless focus on story makes people underrate it.  Just taking the example of Connie this week AND SOME SPOILERS ARE COMING UP, if this was The Wire, we could have seen her arrest, imprisonment, and detox, and we would have learned about how America's Institutions Fail Its Most

It's cool, I just got here too.

Pat Metheny's Zero Tolerance for Silence and The Sign of 4. Like he wanted to make up for three decades of smooth jazz all at once.

I wish I could wholeheartedly recommend Giordano's (I've been eating their stuffed pizza for the last 30 years) but the last time I went, they served me something that was clearly frozen and HAD NO CHEESE. That was a suburban location, though, so check out the one near the Sears Tower, on Jackson I believe.

Username: I was thinking of the Peter Gabriel song when I took it. Most people tell me it doesn't fit my personality at all.

That next-to-last moment with Skarsgård, when he realizes what's coming…just perfect.

@avclub-f7f8eb12e0f61a9321597157c0d61791:disqus :  there's that wonderful little moment late in the movie where he adjusts it, and you can see he's starting to crack.

Amen.  I had the LP back in the day.  Kind of a mix of Johns Carpenter and Barry.

Mint chocolate chip, and NOT green.

Oh yeah, that's the stuff.
