Even meant in jest, that really is a quietly devastating Simpsons reference to be on the other side of. Not that I'm arguing people should refrain from it, because it really is too perfect not to use.

Damn these AV Club freelancers, please!

Aw, but those screener privileges are pretty sweet for all involved when it means a review doesn't go up like five hours after the episode aired! It's more like the NFL ruined a sincere effort to do our jobs in the timeliest possible manner. Really, burning this bridge between reviewer and readership is the most evil…
I'm feel a little silly here for many, many reasons.
If anything, it's all going to come incrementally slower, because that's one fewer episodes I'll be paid for reviewing in January. So … I'm the real victim here?
I swear this never happens to me…

Finally, that feature finds a use!
Yeah, I'm still pretty mortified about that one.
Justifiably so!
Silly error on my part. It's fixed now. Good way to find out strikethrough is working properly in our CMS, though!
Nah, just a dumb mixup. I'm adding it in.
It's dumber than straight-up forgetting, actually. I knew it was possibly on, the TV Guide listings had it as a repeat, I meant to check, and then I forgot. So I went to a whole lot of trouble just to be wrong and dumb.
For some dumb reason, TV Guide didn't list it as new. I meant to double-check, but my internet connection was terrible. Boring story short…I'll go put it in there.
I thought I kind of explained why this was more of an issue for me here? Namely that I don't mind the overscoring as much when it's for emotional beats, but it bothers me a bit more when it's trying to sell quirkiness/comedy, which I don't really think the show did much of this season prior to this episode.
In fairness, mortician and coroner's assistant feel like they're in the same universe as each other. But I did warn you all I know nothing about this show!
Right, so, just to lay all this out, because this is the kind of absurdly pedantic point we Doctor Who fans love to get into…
I'm not actually sure we disagree? Or at least I don't think what we're saying is mutually exclusive. My point is more that, while this might be okay as a character beat for Lisa, the episode never really does anything particularly interesting or funny with it, so it feels a little half-developed.
"Lisa The Iconoclast" is my all-time favorite. "Lemon Of Troy" used to be in pole position, and it's probably still top ten, though I don't really have a solid list beyond the top two.
