I already told you Doctor Who was hard to summarize!

Dark Eyes was … okay. It suffered from the fact that Dark Eyes 1 was never meant to be the first of anything, and it's kind of obvious how ridiculously contrived the follow-ups are. It also suffered from the fact that by far the most exciting elements of the subsequent Dark Eyes sets were Alex MacQueen and Nicola

I was trying to work out which Doctors I'd most want to see paired with 10, and I'm realizing that all of them would be kind of fascinating, honestly. 10/8 is probably the most interesting if you want to do a deep dive into the Time War, but 10/6 and 10/7 would be the most fascinating personality clashes, especially

I hadn't realized Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy are already 72. Feels like just the other day they were turning 70…

What, you don't want to take credit for being so classy?

I do get that sentiment. I think though that Big Finish had 16 solid years where it was all classic, all the time, and part of the fun of what's happening now is we're getting to see how the classic and the new really are just two aspects of one big show. As a longtime listener, I'd say Big Finish kind of had reached

That'd be the Slitheen. The Sycorax were the ones in the 10th Doctor's debut episode, "The Christmas Invasion." I'd describe them further, but it's probably easier just to Google them.

Classy, classy stuff.

Yeah, but now we can do so with a purpose!

The issue is whether a viewer cares about the robots' plot. My basic argument would be that the episode is so stylish, so emotional, and so fun that the logical issues just aren't that interesting to me.

Just wrote up the Newswire story about it!

I mean, I wasn't especially trying to convince. I just wanted to save everyone the trouble of my writing out another long comment…

Upvoted.

I mean, I already wrote ~1,500 words on why I think it's a pretty great episode, so I hope you'll forgive me if I just link that: http://www.avclub.com/tvclu…

There are very reasonable reasons to think "Goodbyeeeeee" is not the best episode of Goes Forth. There are also very reasonable reasons to think "Goodbyeeeeee" represents a high point of television in general. It's singular enough that there's going to be a lot of very reasonable variance in people's assessments,

Yeah, even if you want to argue the 2nd Doctor's era, the camp is pretty much there from season 8 onward, as the dawn of the UNIT family means the show is never entirely serious again.

It's possible, I suppose, and I suspect it's inevitable a lot of those 11th Doctor gaps will be filled in one of these days, by Big Finish or whoever else. Though I do tend to think that line about Captain Jack's stag parties sounds a lot more like the Doctor traveling alone and being ridiculous by repeatedly dropping

Eh, I've never really bought the idea that the 10th anniversary means much of anything, especially since the mini-breaks mean we're still only on the ninth season. (What quotes of Moffat's I've seen suggest he's of a similar mind on this, but I may have missed something more recent.) I think the more likely reason is

Oh yeah, if Tennant does come back, all the rumors indicate it's going to be with Tate. But if Tennant does enjoy doing it, they could vary it up with other companions, and bringing back Jack for a little bit feels like it's likelier than Billie Piper coming back, if only because Barrowman is already doing Torchwood
