You can be of Asian extraction and still be Latino. Heck, Brazil has the second highest number of people of Japanese descent in the world.

I agree, but  Abrams is a fanboy filmaker. He is not a fanboy of Star Trek, but he films it like he is one. What you end up getting is a self-referential wank-fest that feels hollow.
