I'm not sure who you identified Penner as in this?  He's not from s2, Probst doesn't hate him, and he doesnt hate Probst.  The way he and Probst used to banter during challenges, I think they play poker against each other weekly

Before they showed Pete saying he did it, I genuinely thought Abi planted the clue, than discovered it and was doing 1 on 1's with the camera pretending that it wasn't her and she had no idea how it happened.  I still think she and Pete were in on it together, but who knows
