I went back and read some of the comics I bought about five years ago and they're still for children.

That's the wrong way around. The western has a vast lineage that spans all kinds of genres whereas the superhero film has borrowed those concepts but ultimately ends up taking the same form: both Captain America films take place in wildly different contexts but it isn't like they're Terminator and T2.

Not to mention that Jeremy Renner was set up to do that with both Bourne and Mission Impossible and in both cases nobody was interested in the franchise losing the lead actor.

Unlike Ignatiy, The Rhythm of the Night is a stalwart of my playlist and always gets a few extra plays after I watch any Claire Denis.

Is that what he's calling his drones now?

Speaking of feminists, no newswire about Jen Kirkman going mental on Twitter?

I don't have much in the way of social anxiety but I'm so concerned with being that guy that I often look up a menu online before going in so I at least have a rough idea of what I can get. There's a cool looking independent pizza place that I've never been in because they don't have anything more advanced than a

I get that it's a teaser but that seems based around the audience not knowing what war is, never mind what happened at Dunkirk. Nolan's fond of treating the audience like dunces but this is a bit much.

Cain has been pretty clear in his stance that he's taken roles in bad movies because he'd rather do that than go on welfare, as if that was the only reason why he's been in garbage ever since he stopped being Superman.

Thanks for allowing me to see a glimpse into the hell dimension where that film actually exists.

Condescending nerds who trot out a vaguely eclectic taste when challenged are the best, especially when the value judgments come out; I have no idea what meaningful means in this context, but if you like good entertaining meaningful visual storytelling but can't see a particular style in Eastwood's filmography then

Anybody who isn't into nerd culture can see it pretty clearly. And if you're into those kinds of films, fine, but that explains why you can't see a personal style in something that doesn't end in a CGI showcase.

By, God! That's Col Flanders music!

Girls are scared to debate me about video games and physics because I'm so clever. Just look at my engineering degree and Reddit Gold for proof.

This has bought Reddit another 18 months of absolution from critical thought.

Who are these dozens? American cinema wouldn't be on its last legs if there were dozens of people as, or more, talented than Clint Eastwood. As for having a cult following, not having one is probably for the best: the three directors you named seem to get their online fandom from playing to nostalgia and Eastwood has

His decades spanning, several dozen movies worth of morally ambivalent guys doing bad things for a greater good, often positioned as a deconstruction of the tough guy myth, and films in an often visually bleak way doesn't count as a 'personal style'?

That interview really wasn't that bad. Eastwood is in the same political realm as people like Kurt Russell and Joe Rogan in that they have the trifecta of just enough political knowledge to see that neither the republicans or democrats are worth voting for, too much Americana to even consider any alternatives as they

This is a good reminder that this is the same studio that decided the sequel to The Matrix had to be split into two in order to arbitrarily make it a trilogy and rival the Star Wars prequels. After the Sony hack, I can only imagine just how dumb the Warner Bros. emails would be.
