I'm curious if this show could have (at least somewhat) been saved by a stronger lead. Emma Roberts just kills me. She's got a few decent lines, but they always come out two-dimensionally and wholly uninteresting. Sigh.

ok

My standard response to drivel. You respond to me every week with this crap, and every week I say "ok." I'm sure next week when you respond to me with similar crap, I will probably say "ok" then too.

Cool

Ok

It takes a "special" person to not know what the comment in question was referring to by "magical negro." Ugh. Some people…

I would agree with each and every point in your argument. The show is very intentionally ambiguous. I think this is all pretty well summed up in the shot with Brody at the safe house with Carrie before he's captured by the Iranian authorities and executed. The lighting and camera work on that particular shot was

If you think the show is racist neocon propaganda, that tells me that you're not giving the show a fair shake and are seeing what you want to see as opposed to seeing what is actually being presented.

The protest scene may seem like the silliest thing ever, but Europeans love their protests. I've seen way sillier than Je Suis Gabechuod.

And I'm ok with that extrapolation of a spouse beater.

Here ya go!
She's been slamming my girl Jennifer Lawrence. No worries. I still love both of them.

I don't tend to give spouse beaters the benefit of the doubt.

Did you see the interview where Sevigny said she was "surprised" the Countess was Gaga and not Paulson? Awkward!
To be fair to Gaga, she's actually doing pretty well. I mean, she's no Paulson or Bates or Bassett or Rabe, but she's greatly exceeding my low expectations.

I'll raise my hand to that.
I would also offer Juliette Lewis' name for consideration. She does vampire movies, ya know?

Man, I was really digging those first three episodes. They were fun and I was getting invested. I'm not going to say that I HAAAAAATED this episode, because I didn't. But I found it tedious. Lily Rabe as Aileen Wournos was so spot on. I knew exactly who she was playing before she even sat down on the bar stool, which

Cartoon? Or 100% realistic? lol

Wow, very interesting. Compare and contrast the way Homeland is having a "religious" season with Dexter's Colin Hanks season. Night and day.

It sounded like really bad German that I didn't understand, which I wrote off as "whatever." Her speaking Russian makes a lot more sense, particularly given her background in Moscow and the historical Russian presence in Berlin.

She was a station chief in Russia prior to Berlin.

I'm pretty sure it was implied that it was the Israelis who blew up the plane. Remember the Israeli ambassador being strongly opposed to regime change, and him having that dance with words between him and Saul? Could be a fake-out, but it's at least heavily implied that it was an Israeli strike, not the CIA lady. I
