This had a Low Winter Sun vibe to it. At least in the sense that no matter how hard I tried to pay attention, I ended up playing with my dogs, checking email, watching my toe nails grow, etc. much like my attention span during Low Winter Sun.

Shay was my go-to suspect as well. I never bought that there wasn't more to her backstory.

Ha! There are parts of the Bay Area that are exactly how you are describing.
That ticky tacky song I just learned in this comments section was written about Daly City. Daly City is the next suburb due south of San Francisco. I could literally walk to Daly City from where I grew up. But never in a million years would I

Possible, but I think those suits are actually considered fashionable in Europe. By and large Europeans have really good taste, but every now and then, they have something en vogue that leaves me scratching my head.

Bingo. That was his one suit misfire in three seasons. I'm guessing that pattern is all the rage in Italy right now which is why he wore it, but agreed… it did not look good.

Every new season of Hannibal has me strongly consider flying to Hong Kong to have an entire closet stuffed with tailor-made suits made from the finest fabrics. I know there's no product names used on his clothing, but he's got Zegna and Brioni written all over him.

Ugh. As I mentioned, the writing seemed incredibly poor and lazy, but this takes things to a whole new level. Thanks for that info.
I'm torn on the upcoming season 2. Does my hatred for the show outweigh my love for Rachel McAdams? I don't know which force is the stronger one.

Ah, so that's what a McMansion is. I've driven past them, but I've never been in one. I've always been a very large city dweller, and we don't have those in the city.

Oh, Scrawler. Do I have a surprise for you. It's the best of both worlds. I know you have made your partiality towards buttercream known, but just hear me out here. This will blow your fragile little mind:

That's the vinegar! Man, you guys are getting a baking bug in my bonnet. Might be time for some Hannibal cupcakes tomorrow.

I think it also depends on where you live and what the purpose of the large house is. I had 5 bathrooms in my HORRIBLE (and I do mean HORRIBLE!!!!) family home in a not-so-fancy part of San Francisco, but that home housed a lot of foster kids with us. My lesbian moms were all about the more the merrier, so it was a

A half upvote for Orphan Black. Non me gusto OINTB.

I put MoS and OINTB in the same category as shows that aren't terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but they're great… for people other than myself. MoS is so very on the nose pretty much all the time, and OINTB has these contrived story arcs with 1-dimensional characters that all leads nowhere and self-combusts

I couldn't watch Fargo as I'm allergic to Colin Hanks post Dexter. I hear it's great, but I can't do it. That kid sucks.

Yup, bingo. I said something similar about Healey above. There are a few legitimately nuanced characters in the show, but by and large, the characters are crudely sketched with overwhelming rote.

People have such strong opinions in the buttercream vs cream cheese frosting debate. With the sugar that goes into both, I just view them as sugar-delivering vehicles. I guess I don't have the most refined palate. Hannibal would absolutely disapprove.

I know exactly what you're saying. It's like they're adding nuance to the caricature for the sake of adding nuance, and it comes off as more confusing than nuanced.

I hate seeing Healey on screen, but not because of the character himself. Rather, the way he's a caricature of tiny, self-hating MRAs (with a mail order bride no less!). Californication did something similar with a raging, angry, dominatrix, man-hating feminist, but Californication made its intent with the character

I don't know anything about Ligotti other than what I just read on his Wikipedia entry after having read your comment, but yeah, I can see that.

Oh really? If you see her again, please do let her know she's been missed.
