Watched it yesterday. Really interesting and I have nothing but admiration for the man's work ethic. Also it was fascinating to see how he is such an artist but also very professional and practical at times. I don't know much about the artistic process of comics so it was really cool to see it from the perspective of

I think that cold open in the first issue of Irredeemable is legitimately one of the scariest bits of comics I've ever read. Bought a bunch of digital issues then but couldn't afford to keep reading around issue 10. Still want to finish it one day.

"The city that never sleeps" right? I get that, there are probably as many difference as there are similarities. But that wasn't the point of my comment, it was solely about those few things mentioned in the review.

Did you edit the article to include "in the country" or did I read over that? If I did, it makes my whole post sound really douchey so I'll apologize. If not, thanks for the edit I guess. I commented because I found it a rather broad statement, don't want to be nit-picky or anything.
Can't wait to check out the

"…because the truth is that living in New York really isn’t like living anywhere else. Between the sheer density, fast-paced lifestyle (literally – you will get trampled), and transportation that can take you from one end of the island to another in under an hour for three bucks, … "

This is kind of embarrassing but I mixed up Brecht Vandenbroucke with Brecht Evens (The Making Of, Wrong Place). He's also Belgian (and apparently best buds which might explain the similar styles, although Vandenbroucke is much cleaner). I watched a piece on Brecht V. on Belgian television once, same time when he had

As a big fan of Malick and Southern Gothic Cinema (is this one of those? It was in a list I found after True Detective made me hungry for more), I really want to check this one out.

Thermae Romae I will check out. Should be easy to find here. Are comics like Saint Oniisan (Saint Brothers?) available in the US? There's still a bunch of cool artsy manga being made by I feel like the mainstream has decreased in quality. Would love to read more AV Club coverage of manga though. I used to be really

I agree that last bit was over the top and wholly unnecessary but I still think that movie is a small masterpiece. The music and the cinematography create something wholly unique. It's one of those movies that I really enjoyed because it makes me forego narrative convention like I'm used to it and I kinda just go with

Finally I thought, a competition I want to enter. And then I saw the US addresses only. Saying sorry doesn't make it any less mean, AV Club. You xenophobic dummies! Wanna keep all the good stuff for 'Muricans, huh!

Hannibal will for the coming weeks by the highlight of my weekend, except for maybe this one as I haven't seen True Detective yet. Hannibal is the closest thing to visual literature on television (Rectify would be poetry by that comparison), creating an uneasy tension and dream logic in every episode. The

Bolt I actually kinda liked but I feel that is something I should keep to myself. I just have a soft spot for animals in movies.

Tangled is a subpar movie full of cliches and tropes (doesn't mean I didn't like the horse). It has one amazing scene that made me sit up and go wooooowwwww, pretty. All the rest is going through the motions.

Could very well be, but that could also be an impression you have based on what you have seen or read so far. As I said it, I read one issue a while ago, didn't care for it. I don't even know who wrote or drew it. I do remember the cover being bland. I'll look it up, now I'm curious anyway. Bought the first issue,

It's honestly something none of us can know, unless there's an Old Norwegian language expert here. You can always find idioms and sayings in ancient texts. Maybe it was in there word for word. My guess is that it was a different phrasing but came down to the exact same meaning. But saying it literally would just

Moon Knigh has me intrigued. Read a single issue before once and didn't speak to me at all though. I kept thinking that he was bland and had no reason for existing. What is he? What's his motivation here? …
That panel out of Magneto up above with the guy and his headache is amazing though. Might just pick it up for

I'm almost done with Wonder Woman Vol.2 Guts. Better than the first trade, with lots of creepy stuff, great art (Hephaestus' design is awesome) and badass Diana. Felt like the resolution to the Hades-arc was a little too neatly tied off but I like happy endings like that.
Also finished:
- Immortal Iron Fist Vol1:

I'm straight but it's hard to argue with that. I would watch Spartacus with friends and we would regularly say "that is a fine looking man right there" or more commonly "daaammnnn".

Is that an Arsenal reference?

Oh lord, thank you for that.
I just had to walk out of the office with tears in my eyes, repressing my laughs. Anti-jokes are hit and miss but the wording here is perfect.
