There Will Be Blood
When that movie came out someone (I thought the AV Club) made the point that we hardly got to know Daniel Day Lewis' character compared to Swearingen (sp) from Deadwood.

That was my thought as well. I have seen bi-polar up close and personal, and though it was always crazy and mixed up, there was often some vague truth mixed in. I feel sorry for him, and the people who love him,I doubt this will end well.

and they dock ya
my favorite coen brothers line.

Agreed on Dolittle. It was my first Pixies purchase, predicably because I heard "here comes your man" on the radio……and then "debaser" opens the CD.

The Statue is Silly
Dave Bing doesn't lie.

Fey
means 'fated to die"

Extras Christmas Special
Ricky Gervais' speech is my #2

All The King's Men?
The book only won the Pulitzer, the movie only won the oscar, Willie Stark's speech is miles better than anything shown here.

Alan Dershowitz makes a compeling case for Tyson's innocence.

Sptizer's Slate Articles
are really good.

All I want to do is dance…….
and make romance.

The End of The Innocence
is a beautiful, sad, sweet solo album……the Henley haters are too cool.

Grail Superior To Brian
Surprised I needed to point that out. Not even close.

I agree. Who's Next is their best by a wide wide margin.

Every Comedy
Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes…….I can't think of any comedy that doesn't fall apart at the end.

Crime and Punishment
read it the summer when I was 13. Picked it out of my grandparent's bookshelf. A Paperback with a lurid cover. Absolutely stunned to my core, around page 80. Wow, still remember the thrill, and my admiration for "Four door" Doestoevsky. The first author who hadn't wimped out on me.

I Claudius
In the early seventies, my parents suddenly became rigid about bedtime for the children Sunday nights. Their excitement was obvious…….I Claudius is beginning in 5 minutes! Then I'd hear the Masterpiece Theater theme coming from downstairs, and wonder what could be so riveting?

The Talented Mr. Ripley
Philip Seymour Hoffman's cutting remark about Matt Damon's "One cordoroy jacket." Ouch. 25 years later, I still remember trying (and failing) to hang with the rich guys in college.
