Does it really work in the UK?  It seems like every show has 2 or 3 seasons, tops.  By then the stars either move up to movies or the whole thing is lost out of collective memory.

I didn't think Galatea and Plastique died… just that they were super seriously injured.  Still, they definitely got theirs.

God yes… this weeks Masterchef made a big deal about someone giving another contestant a stick of butter, but on Face Off they regularly help each other with the heavy lifting, give each other advice, and look genuinely sad when someone is eliminated.

A particular favorite of mine was the episode where a monster lived in this kid's basement, but was only active when music played.  The kid then tricked a bully into it, and blared the music through remote control to scare him… and then found the bully gone, and the monster had given him a shiny new bike in thanks.

Just logistics wise, single parenting seems hard as hell.  My company hired a single parent, and she had to constantly miss work because she was sick, her kids were sick, her kid's school had an unexpected half day, etc.  Lack of affordable childcare makes it really hard to do some types of work that way.

Which is funny when you consider how many more of them there are in the Abstinence Only Education states.

Not to mention the era of McCarthy, the Korean War, and segregation.  You have to wonder if the parents watching all those sanitized shows were happy for the break from reality.

I have long that part of the problem "Family Values" republicans have is that they draw their notion of what both families and TV should be from the super sanitized TV families of the 50s and 60s.  And there is a place for feel good stuff (its not like Cam from Modern Family is getting attacked on the street for being…
