Just use adblock and laugh at the starving journalists. I didn't even know the avclub had ads.

That doesn't make sense. How can Don by brainwashed by the Chinese and Megan be a Soviet spy when the Sino-Soviet split had already happened at the time when Mad Men plays?

Yes, saw it on German TV.

I remember watching these as a kid. I also remember one about the human body. Looking it up now I see there are 8 of these shows.

Greatest TV massacre since [spoiler] the Season 1 finale of Spartacus.

Yeah, it's can be pretty problematically at times ('though I hadn't heard about these comments by Reitz which makes it even more troublesome, where did you read those comments?) but as a piece of TV it's a great show.

So the Earth Republic is the US post WWII regarding hiring former war-criminal scientists.

It greatly amuses me that the two top rated comments are in Russian and Polish respectively. Genre-TV brings us all together.

Reaction to this episode seems to be rather muted, which surprises me since this was probably my favorite episode of the show so far. More laughs per minute than any other episode. I always liked it but this is the first time I thought 'Wow, this is as good as The Thick of It."

Yep, the current state of German TV is abysmal. KDD was decent (and of course was cancelled), Tatortreiniger is fun (and of course airs on NDR at 3am or something) and Dittsche & Pastewka have their occasional moments but other than that it's a sad story. And to think that ARD & ZDF get more money than the BBC…

Unless it's French Canadian that show does not really fall into the scope of this article.

875 episodes might take some time to catch up.

In Germany Üter is Swiss.

@avclub-fa6fdc1bb56715a0e468248020a12fa3:disqus I think the "legally available in the US" part kind of constricted the article, especially given how many foreign-language shows aired in Britain recently.

Since there are surprisingly many German shows let me add Heimat. It's a trilogy of TV series (the first one released in 1983, the last one in 2000) telling the story of a German family between 1919 and 2000. I don't know about availability in the US but it aired in Britain so an English version should be attainable.

German Archie frequently boasts about his exploits at the eastern front and his injury in the war(later in the series we learn that he was a cook and his injury resulted from boiling soup).

I think you are allowed to watch fewer than all 24 of these.

There are two shows among the 24 that fit this description and one is a period piece.

Hey, look at me! I don't care abut foreign shows and I want everyone to know. Give me attention!
