This is something I want to do, and then a client will schedule a meeting at the same time.

@avclub-236e42b5af241c85d97910f5c1aa6107:disqus How does Keith sound like an asshole for being excited about getting to run a new site on the thing he loves to do for a living?

It's really not obtuse though. The parts that cement his genius (other than his ability to write) is the way details in the book (in some cases, sure, obscure details) dovetail together in ways that seem to link and others that contradict. Very few of these are necessary to understand or enjoy the book—it's own plot

Yeah, I thought the opening of V. wasn't particularly great, but I'm enjoying it overall—and rather shocked by how fairly straight forward it is. Only halfway through it, but there are some pretty compelling plot portions in it (the Venezuelan riot chapter is the most recent one).

You want to read it. It's best read when you have time to do it in large chunks.

DFW is super indebted to Pynchon, but they're both working towards somewhat different ends.

Which one? Gravity's Rainbow was fairly difficult, but I'm halfway through V. and it's only been a week. It's really, really easy.

Just finished a bit ago. It's worth it.

God that thread was/is amazing.

He only did it because the drug deal went bad and Tom Jane got shot. Made him see the light though, and of course, Burt took him back in instantly because deep down he knew he missed ol Phil.

@Scrawler2:disqus Was it possible to be in Hollywood in the 80's and not do coke?

Are we being serious here? Because, especially in terms of drug usage let alone heroin usage, a week is pretty damn close to immediately.

Once bought some weed that was laced with meth (was not told this; friend bought it from a shady seeming dude who thus confirmed his shadiness). Perhaps the worst high I've ever experienced.

I couldn't imagine such a cute dog having a drug problem.

Is this just a joke or did someone actually get banned for mentioning it?

I'm just happy that they're going to have comments.

@avclub-884c4beddd8c98bb3b016bdfcc1bcdf8:disqus I think he just wanted to make an OK Go pun.

Actually, I both live in the city and next to a river and not far from the ocean. The Navy Yards aren't even that far away.

Yeah, but then you can't hype yourself as being something crowdfunded. Cause that's so in now.

Or problem a plotline in Season 4 of Girls and everyone will talk about how brave it was of Leah to take this real life thing and integrate it into the show but make it about her for some reason rather than Shoshanna.
