The parts that cement his genius (other than his ability to write) is the way details in the book (in some cases, sure, obscure details) dovetail together in ways that seem to link and others that contradict. Yeah, I thought the opening of V. wasn't particularly great, but I'm enjoying it overall—and rather shocked by how fairly straight forward it is. Only halfway through it, but there are some pretty compelling plot portions in it (the Venezuelan riot chapter is the most recent one).

You want to read it. It's best read when you have time to do it in large chunks.

Are we being serious here? Because, especially in terms of drug usage let alone heroin usage, a week is pretty damn close to immediately.

Once bought some weed that was laced with meth (was not told this; friend bought it from a shady seeming dude who thus confirmed his shadiness). Perhaps the worst high I've ever experienced.

I couldn't imagine such a cute dog having a drug problem.
