I think we're misunderstanding each other. I think the influence is especially found in certain plot elements and themes. Not that the plots are similar because Skyfall is obviously much simpler. Though you may not directly have said it, I am not specifically a Nolan fan, I just find the similarities hard to dismiss.

@avclub-3bca94e353e508c1a49bf984fc5c346d:disqus Mendes himself has said that he is inspired by the Nolan trilogy. (IMDB trivia) I am not saying what Nolan does has not been done before, I just don't think it so unreasonable to consider that Bond may have been influenced by one of the top action grossers at the box

There you go a new post. Here are a bunch of quotes: "The film departs from most Bond plots by placing its emphasis on a drugrelated criminal underworld (a blaxploitation staple) and not on a plan to disrupt world power structures more typical of earlier Bond films. From the start LaLD changes its narrative emhasis

POTENTIAL SPOILERS No, it's there. The ongoing theme of resurrection vs. the rise of Batman. There is terror and destruction that seems very real, palpable and unsettling, a foe with ties to the past, mirroring the hero, so desillusioned that it in itself becomes an ideology. The hero is humiliated on his own turf by

Actually Live and Let Die can be interpreted as specifically anti blaxploitation. In "Shocking Cinema of the Seventies" by Xavier Mendik there is a nice reflection on this. I might edit this post later to lift some of the points. (Though many are quite obvious just casually thinking about the movie.)

I would actually argue that there is plenty of The Dark Knight Rises in Skyfall which is a good movie. But is it a good Bond movie?

OHMSS has two sublime themes (though Louis Armstrong's outing is quite similar to YOLT)

Yeah, I actually mostly posted hoping someone would start a conversation about that film. Beyond some structural weakness It's very powerfull.

I just saw Redbelt an hour ago and there are always these fucking morons on IMDB who complain about "too much talking."
