They did one of those in english couple years ago. It was called "Clash of the Titans" allegedly it sucked.

@ Black Orpheus the anachronisms aside - what I meant was the fact that characters' motivations - heroic or selfish - blend to a greater extent. Carl Denham is more compelling than that businessman and this guy

I agree with your point. King Kong is, however, more challenging in it's morals, whereas Avatar ends up making a very easy case.

The slowmo subverted the notion that they weren't classic superheroes. The action was more downplayed in the comic. (and I'm pointing that out because it worked in the comic, not for the sake of the comic itself)
