Yes yes yes! Gambit and the sudden popularity of Gambit made me feel like I was going insane back in the early 90s. I couldn't understand the rationale behind his absolutely absurd costume, which he evidently brought to the X-Men of his own accord. It wasn't something he was given by the team — no, he just wore this

I have and will likely always have an irrational hatred of Gambit.

FAKE LIEFELD CHARACTER THREAD:

This sounds promising.

@DanPierce:disqus , that was great. I recall that they included Thunderbird in that episode, and for some reason he could transform into a bear, because y'know, Indians. This is suddenly striking me as racist.

I bow to your powers of memory, @avclub-6ffc79f9decf633c29b09e6c25621195:disqus .

I was thinking of the "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" episode, but it's basically interchangeable with PotXM. As crappy as these were though, I loved them dearly. And it was the Claremont/Byrne X-Men! How cool is that?

I agree, but she doesn't make as good a punchline.

What are we fans called — 'heads Heads?

For a brief period in the early 1980s that coincided with an encounter with Peter "Spider-Man" Parker and two associates, James "Logan" "Wolverine" Howlett was inexplicably Australian.

Thanks! I assume my list is otherwise flawless.

Hey, a buddy of mine is the guy who plays the at-bat songs (and all of the other songs) at Fenway. Have you ever heard them play Morphine's "You Look Like Rain" during rain delays? I like to think I (vaguely, indirectly) influenced that!

Blur or N'Sync?

I'll say this: I was shocked to discover, upon clicking on this piece, that I could name all five 'N'Sy'NcS. There's no way I could do the same for the Backdoor Boys (sorry! Holdover from a less enlightened age!), but here goes:
Howie Day
Aaron Carter or possibly Nick Carter
Kevin?
That one with the sunglasses
A fifth guy

Sure, sure. Hey, it's "by accident".

@avclub-4c56ff4ce4aaf9573aa5dff913df997a:disqus , what are some other ways that always liking the least popular one has manifested itself?
Favorite…
CHUCKLE: The licorice one
FRIEND: Monica
FAST AND FURIOUS: The Japan one
DOCTOR: Colin Baker
LOSTAWAY: Paulo*

I don't think he was saying that's what this movie is actually about. In fact I'm just being nice with that qualifier. He's not saying that's what this movie is about.

Genuinely clever!
