@avclub-aa854f5836947cdf62324ba7d74e1c43:disqus , I'm also not that hard on N & P; I was more referring to the execution and the fan reaction.
I think of N & P as a net win: The showrunners tried something different (that's good); the execution wasn't very successful (that's bad); but then they made an immediate course

It's a pickle. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't, so I have sympathy for them as they wrestle with a weird adaptation hurdle. But the flipside is that they'll probably end up contriving some not-from-the-book business for Theon next year, which is exactly where they went astray with Danaerys in season

The Wire did a really great job of it though.

Yeah, that's exactly what I figured too, so I was perfectly fine with the inclusion early on. But as the season wore on… yikes. That was some deadly poor TV, made almost worse for being in the middle of what was otherwise a really great season. I get that they have a problem to solve there, but the solution is not

Hey, just while I'm thinking about it: Has anyone seen any interviews with Benioff and/or Weiss in which they're asked about the Theon storyline in season three, and (this is less likely) how they'll handle it in season four?

Oh, dude, I've got a pyromancer who can totally hook you up. Just whatever you do don't find yourself in Flea Bottom scrounging around for a hookup.

What annoys the poop out of me about so many of the posthumous Tolkien releases is that the actual material is buried amidst reams of explanatory text (dry, dry explanatory text) by Christopher. I will always, given the choice, prefer to read the material unaided, in whatever rough form it may exist, then move on to

Bossanova is absolutely devastating. So dang good. The only demerit I could throw at it is that ""Down to the Well" is only kind of awesome and not face-meltingly awesome like the rest of the record.

It seems pretty safe to say they'll steer clear of that one.

Emphatic disagreement.

Let it suffice to say that he turns up in King's Landing with a thirst…

Still! Here! Old friend! But like a bad marksman you KEEP MISSing the target!

Lay on, Threepio! Sayeth thou unto
Yon Slimie bit of Filthe, fit but for Wormes,
His pleasure here he shall not take from Us.

Or possibly a very, very long scene in which Han and Leia discuss the terms of their marriage in excruciating detail.

Neither a Bothan nor a Lando be.

I've touched him!

I know Jeremy Dubs… sort of! I heard about Deal leaving months ago. I feel like such a goddamn insider right now.

Greece may have looked TOO awesome, or at least the property they're staying on during the middle/dinner section. It was so fantastic that it was almost alienating: "I will never vacation on a lakeside compound in Greece." Mustn't grumble.

C-sections!
