Another angle on the Rousseau/infection story: as Zack mentions in his second comment in this thread, she tortured Sayid when she first met him. Notably, if I remember correctly (I've only seen each episode once), she electrocutes him, using a get-up very much like the one Dogen uses in the Temple. Might this mean

I don't know all the details, but the NYT coverage of the issue suggested that CBS recently (i.e., this year) changed its "No advocacy ads" policy. So it was not necessarily biased or partisan in accepting the Tebow ad despite not accepting, e.g., MoveOn in the past. It was, however, partisan or stupid or cowardly

I don't think it was misogynistic, but it did seem rather off to me. Maybe it was the "I [or was it "we"?] care about women. Especially women who watch football." In the context of a service announcement about heart health, it kinda sounded like Sanchez wouldn't mind if you dropped dead if you were more of a

CBM: I also kind of liked the Auto-Tune ad, possibly because I'm behind the times enough not to know the joke was overplayed.

I thought it was a simulation where you'd have to make friendly takeover offers in order to stave off hostile corporate raiders.

Believes fellow gang member getting thrown out of a fourth-story window for giving gang-leader's wife a foot massage "excessive," but insists that that doesn't mean it didn't happen?

Agreed—I'm not a Colts fan or anything, but I think he's one of the better athletes-in-c0mmercials out there. Those original MasterCard commercials of him being fans of ordinary workers were pretty funny.

Actually, football really is hard
Hard to play (even without tackling), and incredibly complicated to analyze. It's a shame the interviewee didn't break down Peyton Manning's blitz recognition tactics and protection schemes, with emphasis on variation across personnel packages. And how are girls gonna catch a man

Admit it, you all were thinking what Fresh Jive just posted.

Failed subtlesies?

Wow, Channing's story is eerily reminiscient of David Foster Wallace's short story, "Incarnations of Burned Children." Replace his wetsuit with a diaper, and there you have it.

I sure could go for a hundred tacos.

We are also supposed to be outraged! by his spelling. Which we are.

I don't know about funny, but Martin Short played a villain in an episode of "Law & Order: SVU" and he scared the bejeezus out of me. So this is not a bad casting decision.

Definitely among the artists (of any medium) who has improved my life the most. Amazing.

I think it's pretty clear that lots of Watterson's strips are aimed at least as much at adults as children. And, anyway, there are may things aimed at children which are excellent works of art. A certain level of simplicity doesn't mean a work can't be insightful or beautiful.
