Doug doesn't hold up?!  Completely untrue, I recently went back and rewatched the entire Nick Series and it was great!

The controversy is really stupid and is itself worse for race relations then the movie would ever be.

@avclub-9b60cf1b2106f886f17cba2b1a0359b9:disqus I hear you.  It's splitting hairs I guess.  It's definitely a great book, and I think it usually gets placed next to Watchmen due in large part to its historical significance and what it contributed to the medium.  Personally, it's not my favorite Batman story either

@avclub-9b60cf1b2106f886f17cba2b1a0359b9:disqus I really wouldn't call DKR over-rated.  I think its an amazing, powerful, and important work that deserves all praise it gets.  Dark Knight Strikes Again, while I enjoy the moments you mentioned, just doesn't hold up to the original IMO.  But it's definitely better than

He's a legendary comic writer who has written phenomenal works.  Unfortunitly he hasn't written anything good at all in over ten years.

So you're saying we should give it a look?

I understood it as the "too gay"-ness of the film is more palatable for a broader audience when its presented as a comedy instead of a drama.

As a kid who loved this series (and nursing a total Joker obsession that rivaled Harley's) I hated this episode, so I need to go back and give it another look now.

Wow, thanks! :-)

I actually had a great time watching Freddy vs. Jason. "that goalie was pissed about something!"

Exactly, World War Z the book handles that beautifully.  Unfortunitly the movie looks to completely ignore everything the book stands for regarding Zombie fiction, in favor of "Cliche Blockbuster Action Movie with Tidal Waves of Zombie Athletes".

We need more comments!

I am definitely no fan of "fast zombies" but I thought Zach Snyder's Dawn of the Dead was good.

Yeah I agree.  I was pleasently surprised by it, there were a few clever kill scenes (the one at the docks is particulary memorable) and I liked how they were fairly respectful of the series mythology.  It's not the greatest in the series, but it's a major step up from the likes of "Jason X".  If you want an

A young handsome black Republican living in Brooklyn…  oh yeah, fiction, duh.

This movie seems like the arty and far more disturbing cousin of "Beyond the Mask".  A movie I find hilarious and really love.

You can't just watch a film (or for that matter, experience any art) keeping in mind the context in which it was made?
Regardless, I think this movie holds up very well.  A great movie, and definitely the best in the series.

Definitely like the songs on Graduation more than Rabin does.

I bet I would like his music
