I think I read somewhere that he was directed to play Claudio as a hot-headed jock, rather than a wide-eyed simp in love. It really worked for me.

Weird — I recently sat down and watched Tokyo Story, not this weekend, but last Wednesday. I really liked it, but there was something keeping me from total and complete love. I think there is something artificial in the construction of the characters: how daughter-in-law is just so perfectly obedient and nice vs. how

All I did was watch hockey this weekend and NO REGRETS.

Yeah, professor Maggie Walsh was supposed to be the Big Bad, not Adam. I find her about a million times scarier than franken!Adam, for sure.

Oh, I nearly forgot to come back to this, but there are a couple of great Stanwyck movies (she made a LOT, ok, and the quality was not super-consistent):

Well, the movie got a A- CinemaScore — which, is good but definitely not great, and I'm guessing the word of mouth is going to be mostly the same. (For reference, CinemaScore said that audiences opening weekend gave an A  to both Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness; opening weekend audiences go pretty critically

From a purely financial viewpoint, is MoS really that much more successful than SR?? It made approx. $40m more over the first five days, but when you think about the higher ticket prices that 7 years have brought, 3D surcharges and IMAX tickets, I should think that mostly wipes away the differential.

My feelings for Dostoevsky are complicated; loved BK and was wishy-washy about C&P, but damn if the writer himself is not completely compelling.

Not yet, but he wrote many books and I think my brain is bad at reading now or something, but shall put it on my list; second time it's mentioned, which intrigues!

Read another Heinlein, The Door into Summer: love the cat, the cleverness of the time travel plot, and the imaginings of how advanced the year 2001 would be from the viewpoint of the '50s.

Love BABY FACE; Stanwyck is one of my favorite actors of all time. I wish they had stuck with the uncensored ending too…

YES PLEASE

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Superman Returns is what a superhero movie made by Terence Malick would be like? Gaze any harder at one's navel…

yup, this is demonstrably true once you consider the background of creators, Shuster and Siegel.

All I want to know is DOES HE KNEEL TO ZOD? (am serious)

As a chick, see that logic fails to move me. Because of the wonderful reality that to get a man to sleep with me, usually I just have to offer.

I was weirdly okay with Robb and Talisa getting it.. something about the weird self-satisfaction they've been cloaked in the whole episode, but man, Catelyn had a completely amazing death scene. Something about her desperate bargaining to save her child's life, and then seeing him cut down — then that amazing scream

Deadline is reporting that the replacement showrunners, David Guarascio and Moses Port, had 1 year deals and declined returning for season 5.

Neverending Story is my forever movie, okay? I adored it as a child, and I can still remember the day I came back to school after it had played on TV during the weekend — everybody was talking about how awesome it was Monday at lunch.

What @avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus  said — a friend tried to read the play before seeing Much Ado (at SF film festival), and he got through one act reading it. But he had no problem understanding the movie; it's not 100% comprehensible, but when the actors understand the words they're saying, somehow
