Picked up and started a reread of my favorite Austen, which is Emma. It's weird I've only read it once when I've read P&P almost three times. Why? Maybe because P&P is ridiculously entertaining, and it just has the perfect plot.

Here is my theory:

My midnight screening audience applauded during the credits sequence twice, both times when Joss Whedon's name came up. It made my heart grow three sizes like the Grinch.

Well for me, self-important often equates to boring. It didn't help that the action sequences are just not very exciting.

Next to Matt Damon in last year's Adjustment Bureau, she didn't look that skinny. Next to Jason Segel, ehhhh. Let's just say I doubt she lost a whole bunch of weight in between movies.

I love Band of Outsiders but beyond that, I've never really gotten into Godard. I've seen Weekend, Breathless and Masculin Feminin and none of those movies worked for me, sadly. There's a brilliant emotional core to Band which I've never found in any of his other work.

Oh my god, those Black Jewels books are ridiculous prurience shoehorned awkwardly into fantasy genre. It's basically dirty, dirty fantasies in novel form. I believe I skimmed the first book for shits and giggles.

Because if you are airing a TV show on network television, you need to have a mainly white cast or the general American populace wouldn't identify with the characters. I'm non-white and I've no illusions about why I don't often see people of color on TV.

The buzz from twitter and early screenings have been almost unanimously good.

I think losing their pants at the box office scares them more. Neither female-focused, comic-based superhero movie has been successful: so fuck you, Elektra and Catwoman. Especially Catwoman.

It got about 3-5 million people watching at various periods in its run, which were very good numbers for the emerging WB network. In fact, I believe that with those ratings, BtVS would be a hit for the CW today, or any cable channel.
