Good choice on Roadhouse Blues for your kaorake choice. Especially with it being live karaoke, as that strikes me as a song that would be a lot of fun to rock out to with a live guitar blazing.

He was initially excited to see it, as he's a big fan of Westerns. However, he mostly got turned off by the humor and thought they made the Lone Ranger too buffoonish a character.

My personal favorite: "I gotta go to reach my masturbation class. If I'm not there on time, they start without me."

Have you seen Hannah And Her Sisters? Because that's probably one of my favorite Woody Allens, and it does have some amazing NYC architecture overviews.

Not too much super interesting in my real life. The most notable thing was at my job, my promotion of a CME class that I administer managed to fill up our entire conference room, which can hold around 50 or so people, when I was only expecting around 15. Led to some issues, but it was really cool to see happen. So, on

@avclub-0ae7484a9f3bbd2a21df420050c032ae:disqus  Dude, I remember seeing Korra for the first time for a marathon in April because it was thought that it'd be coming out next month.

It's really astonishing to see a film with a running time of just over an hour. I mean, what era did this come from, the 50's?

I haven't seen as much confusion expressed out loud, but some of the memes did carry over, especially with some of the first stuff that was posted. However, they now explicitly say that firsties are not allowed at all. Also, the curse of the interview lives on with Fruitvale Station.

This week was a pretty fun one. The highlight for me was on Thursday, where, due to a particularly strong mojito, I got really, really drunk for the first time in a good long while. My response to this was to go and sing Queen songs in Times Square. Now, I do sing regularly when I listen through headphones, which is

@avclub-98ee3569ee1cc83f32587edbfb0b857a:disqus  My sincere apologies. I guess I got jumpy given the previous reference further up about advocating for hunting down police officers. I also don't remember reading any of your posts before so I wasn't sure what your position was. Given what you've written, we hold pretty

Tell me about it as well. Love seeing people from the AVC in real life.

However, I'm liberal and I definitely argue that anyone who thinks violence done as revenge is really going to solve anything has

Yeah, and the Palestinians have really been successful in getting the Israeli settlers to leave via their suicide bombing. Or the 9/11 terrorists were really successful in getting America to leave the Middle East.

Also, I'd say it probably has quite a bit to do with Tarantino as well. Say what you will about him, he does manage to get some great performances out of his actors, with the exception of himself.

That is seriously awesome! Even though it was a brief conversation, you did strike me as a cool guy. And congrats on getting a girl's number as well! I just the FB info for the three women I talked to who had FB accounts. It was a damn good night, even though it helped contribute to destroying my throat afterwards.

Awesome! Just to be sure, did you talk to someone who had an autographed copy of Neil Gaiman's The House At The End Of The Lane? If you somehow did, that person was actually me. I just ask because I did talk to one guy who was in the Horror group who I thought was cool and it'd be hilarious if it actually was a fellow

There may very well be a Long Island Sci-Fi & Fantasy Meetup group somewhere on the Meetup. And you definitely can come over to Manhattan. I'm from NJ and still go to a ton of their events and there's a good representation of the five boroughs, NJ, LI, and maybe CT, although I haven't seen too many of those.

This was a really fine 4th of July week for me. On Wednesday, I went to a pre 4th social event that was run by the NY Sci-Fi & Fantasy Meetup group. I talked to four really awesome women who I met there and, while three of them were already taken, I still thought they were incredible people to have as friends. Then,

Weirdly, based off of Rottentomatoes, it seems like a large percentage of critics really, really liked Into Darkness. Yet, to me at least, it's pretty clearly inferior to the first Star Trek film (with the reboots, I don't bother comparing to the shows, just themselves, as they are clearly different beasts).

Damnit, that is genuinely stupidly good fun! Very much a B film, in my eyes.
