Thank You For The Confirmation
I've seen the trailer for this two times now, and each time, I did think there was a lesbian subtext all throughout. I thought that this was just me being male and not grasping that women can feel free to touch each other more openly than men can. I'm glad to hear that at least one woman

@Craig: Unfortunately, the last Pop Pilgrims for this week is listed as being in D.C. so that's not happening. Bit of a disappointment, really.

Such A Shame This Posted Late
I decided, based on the strong reviews elsewhere and Nabin's Sundance review, to check it out. Very strong film, with just an unbelievable amount of heartbreak packed into it. It's definitely pretty easy to see why Q-Tip was against the film, since, due to his personality, he easily comes

Yeah, it's tough to see the plaque from just across the park. You basically have to walk right up to the apartment to see it. It's still a nice apartment and I envy whoever lives there now.

@Pep Streebeck: The point brought up by Oscar is the exact reason why the Jason Sudeikis character doesn't quit. The economy is bad enough that it's not the best idea to quit. Bateman doesn't quit because Spacey threatens to write him a bad recommendation, and his job is specialized enough that he wouldn't get a job

Very true about the Midtown clubs being mostly gone. 52nd St. especially is no longer the jazz street it once was long ago. Really is a damn shame.

@littlealex: That's a big shame then. There are at least two landmarked jazz buildings in NYC that I can think of. There's Charlie Parker's apartment opposite Tompkins Square Park, which looks really nice. And there's Louis Armtrong's house in Corona which is now a museum and should be worth going to. And while it's

@hideo: Just out of curiosity, where would you recommend going for good cheesesteak in Philly? I personally had a good experience with one of the vendors outside of Penn when my cousin was giving me a tour of it a bit of time ago. But is there any better?

@idiotking: Damn, it's a shame that I found out about you taking classes there now. For my journalism class I took last semester, I did a profile about someone who took classes there to explore what the improv scene was like and what the learning process was like. I ended up doing it about another NYU student, who I

I'll second that. And it'd be sweet, although even more unlikely, if Nick Offerman got nominated. Ron Fuckin' Swanson was responsible for some of the biggest belly laughs I've had all year.

Being On The National Register Of Historic Places Doesn't Really Help
Just because a building or a neighborhood is part of the National Register of Historic Places doesn't mean that it's now going to be treated well. All it does is kind of give a token nod to say, this is what we recognize to be historic while not

Does Paying For A Film Mean A Higher Level Of Commitment?
I definitely have to say that this was a really good discussion all around and I'm happy that the podcast is back and creating some interesting conversation.

Grading Question For Noel
Hey Noel. I'm just curious. The text for the review is pretty much the same as what you wrote for Sundance. Yet, if I'm not mistaken, the grade dropped from a B- to a C. Did watching it again just make you feel less kindly towards for reasons that are unexplained? Because it still reads like

I'm with you on liking Rocko more, in that Rocko was definitely the funnier show. However, I'm with all the other people you know in that I like Doug as well. It's an amusing take on kid life with not as much of the insanity of Rocko, but I did like a lot of the characters and thought Doug had some good sequences.

Love This Show!
For me, this, along with the Angry Beavers, was the pinnacle of the Nicktoons. I could almost reliably count on it to have an incredibly entertaining episode that probably would play even better to me a second time when I'd be able to catch more of the double entendres and subtle raunchiness. One

Binky, it's for posts like this that you're one of my favorite commentator here. Never change, in all sincerity.

@Warren Oates: Well, she already knows I'm a Ben Folds fan, so that's been broken there. But she does like the song Kate, because that's her name, so I think I'll do okay even with that revealed.

I know in retrospect, it looks like I was going for a firstie. However, I made this comment knowing that 7 people had commented before. There's only so many ways to say I'm on a date with someone I haven't met before.

Happy To Hear The Good Review Here
I'm actually seeing this as part of a first date tomorrow, so it's good to know that if nothing else, I'll be in for an entertaining movie. It also helps that it's a film that she wanted to see and one I was fully behind seeing.

@SouthofHeaven: True, but in that case, the A.V. Club was actually an outlier grade for Kung Fu Panda 2. In this case, the initial reviews seem to say that this is Pixar's weakest and weakest by a large amount. I wouldn't be surprised if this really is as bad as said, especially if the emphasis on Larry The Cable Guy
